The key to achieving the intentional goal that you have set for yourself is to be hyper focused on the main thing. Once you have become clear on what you want your life to look like, ( if you haven’t done that yet you will find information here) your next step is to set SMART intentional goals, you can learn how to do that here. Setting SMART intentional goals creates a clear picture of the goal you are trying to achieve as well as a structure that will set you up for success. Now we will focus on that one goal that will change everything.
Finding Your Target
After you have visualized the life that you want you will create a list of your top 10 intentional goals. Do not limit yourself, these goals should be big life changing goals. The sky is the limit, dream BIG. Now, you are going to write each of these as SMART goals. Review them. Which one of these 10 intentional goals is the one that will change everything? If you had a genie that could make one goal a reality, which goal would it be? This goal should be a BIG SCARY LIFE CHANGING goal. Circle it. This is now your target.
The Genie in a Bottle Principle
Do not fret. Your other goals will manifest. This is the magic of a target goal, while you are focused on the one intentional life changing goal, the momentum that is created from striving for the #1 goal trickles down the rest of your list and voila, goals achieved. Now, this will not happen just by writing a SMART goal and circling it (But wouldn’t that be awesome!). You will have to be single minded, dedicated and work hard for that target goal.
Now all of your energy, time and effort should go into this one goal. This will create the momentum to accomplish this big scary life changing goal. Right now you do not need to know how you are going to accomplish the goal. You just need to start on the very first step. As you work towards this goal the way will be made. The key here is to stay on target and work diligently towards completing the first step. If motivation is a factor these are fantastic books to read as you work towards your goals. The Finish Line
Chances are this big scary life changing goal is going to take some time to accomplish. It can be easy to lose momentum and focus. A great trick is to break this big goal up into a bunch of smaller ones. So, think about setting quarterly goals, weekly goals and daily goals. You can read more about how to do this HERE.
